This page will concentrate on early colognes of all types. The purpose
of this site is to show other interested collectors variants produced and our collection.
Also, it will help us when searching for like items for our collection (ie. - color, sizes, etc.).
A group of three early colorless colognes with plumes. From left: On the heel of
four sides; N PRENTISS // GOLDEN ROSE // 24 WM ST. // NEW YORK. It is decorated
on three sides with plumes, with ten on each. The neck is in eight sections and
the bulbous part is multifaceted. The throat is ground to accept a glass stopper
(missing). It was blown in a two piece mold and has a pontil scar with a small
amount of iron residue. (6 in. X 2 - 3/4 in.) Next is a unusually tall example with plumes
on three sides (fancy label side on fourth) and eight sided neck with bulbous section.
The lip is folded outward. The base has a large open pontil scar. (8 in. X 2 - 7/8 in.)
Lastly, this smaller example can be described as the one to it's left, but with a
different lip and scar on the base. (5 in. X 2 - 1/4 in.)
A couple of early aquamarine polygonal (8 sides) colognes.
On the left is one with a thin flared lip and open pontil scar on base.
The right example has a rolled lip and pontil scar, but is very
unusual, because it is embossed on one panel with J.L. N.Y.
They are both 5 - 1/4 in. X 2 in.
Three 'hourglass' or polygonal colognes. The first is a deep amethyst, smooth base

through the waist and shoulder. Left to right: 4 - 1/2 in., 5 - 3/4 in. and 4 - 5/8 in.
Two very similar colognes referred to as the 'Madonna and
Child' (L) and the 'Knight' (R). The larger features a woman with
an infant. It is very much like McK. plate 107, no. 8. The
smaller is similar to McK. plate 109, no. 9 and 10. Both have
bases with pontil scars. Sizes are 5 - 3/4 in. and 4 in.
Three very similar colognes referred to as the 'Floral Spray'.
The left and the far right aquamarine variants are very close. The left one has an
early hinge mold, while the other has a pontil scar on it's base. The centered colorless
one has a scar, but also a bulbous neck... European? The aquas are very much like McK.
plate 109, no. 5. Sizes are 4 - 3/8 in., 4 - 3/8 in. and 4 - 1/4 in.
A very light aquamarine 'Floral Spray' complete with
a hard-to-find label. Size is 4 - 3/8 in. tall.
A couple of wicker embossed demijohn shaped colognes and a porcelain go-with.
From the left is a double handled varint with a pontil scar. (Similar to McK. plate 108,
no. 2 --- 2 - 7/8 in.). The next is cylindrical with one embossed handle (left shoulder)
and a pontil scar. (Similar to McK. plate 108, no. 1 --- 3 - 7/8 in.).
The last is a go-with demijohn that we purchsed in Germany.
Two rococo corset-waisted colognes. The only difference is their sizes.
Each has a pontil scar on their base. The smaller is recorded as McK.
plate 109, no. 3. Sizes are 4 - 1/4 in. and 3 - 1/2 in.
Two aquamarine 'Lyre' colognes with four strings on one side.
The right one has the original red, gold and white label: EAU DE COLOGNE.

A diamond shaped aquamarine 'Pocahontas' also known as the 'Dancing Indian' (4 - 7/8 in.) -
A colorless 'Buddha' with 'V A' on back heel and '290' on the heel under the Buddha (6 in.) -
A rectangular aquamarine 'Lion' (4 - 1/2 in.) All of their bases have a pontil scar.
An aquamarine and taller colorless 'Fluted' cologne. (4 in.
and 6 in.) The taller is embossed on one side J. PICARD / PARIS.
The smaller is similar to McK. plate 109, no. 4. and has a
pontil scar. The other has a smooth indented base.
An aquamarine and taller colorless 'Plume and Column' cologne.
(4 in. and 5 - 1/2 in.) The taller is embossed on one side of the top of
the neck with a V and the other side with a C. The smaller is similar
to McK. plate 109, no. 15 & 16. Both bases have a pontil scar.
The taller has a flat ground lip.
Left: A ribbed (3 sides) cologne with a letter of embossing on the very top of each
side of the neck: H W & Co. (4 - 3/8). The base is severely twisted on this one.

A light aquamarine 'Lyre' cologne. (5 - 3/8 in. tall)
The base has a pontil scar. This is similar to McK. plate 111, no. 1.
A couple of smaller colognes. The left one is light aquamarine
(McK. plate 109, no. 12 --- 4 - 1/8 in. tall) and the other is colorless
(McK. plate 112, no. 5 --- 3 - 7/8 in. tall). The bases have pontil scars.
Three colognes with bulbous necks and plumes. The left one is a rich and darker
aquamarine (McK. plate 107, no. 3 --- 5 in. tall). The next is pictured as McK.
plate 107, no. 6 --- 5 - 7/8 in. tall. The far right is similar to McK. plate 107,
no. 4, but is 5 - 7/8 in. tall... one inch taller.

no. 3 (5 - 5/8 in.). Right: An aquamarine cologne with scrolled leaves and
flowers in a pear or figure eight shape. Similar to McK. plate 108, no. 8

the last has 10 sides (4 - 1/4 in.). All of the bases are smooth.
Four framed label only colognes with bulbous necks... or are they?
A closer inspection and you have to look hard for these, the shoulder area
on one side has embossed: N.S.P. on the largest in the picture.
Sizes from the left: 5 1/8 in., 7 1/2 in., 6 5/8 in. and 5 5/16 in.
All of the bases have a pontil scar.
